About this event

Instructors: Shaun C. | For ages 12+

Christmas time is here! We're hosting a new festive tradition: Cookie Tray & Exchange. Join us on this Friday evening to build a perfect cookie tray to serve Santa on Christmas Eve. Plus, we invite makers to bring a tray of cookies to exchange with the class! Time will be given to makers to enjoy and exchange cookies whilst their trays dry before having time to glaze. Skills covered in this class include: slip & scoring, slab forming, applying texture, and starter glazing techniques. Participation in the cookie exchange is completely optional, but strongly encourage to ring in this holiday season!

This is a Project-based Workshop . This workshop will cover the techniques required for makers to build a specific project. Due to the nature of this type of class, we may not cover every skill required to handbuild your own projects in the future. Interested in learning more pottery skills? We recommend taking one of our skill-based workshops or courses. Note: This workshop does include time to individualize your piece with Stroke & Coat glazes.

Starter makers are just beginning their journey. Whether wheel throwing or handbuilding—they’re just trying it out for the first time and just introducing ceramics into their wheelhouse. Learn more about the Maker's Journey here .

No partial refunds or make-up instruction will be provided if class is missed. Please make sure you are available before registering. Please wear clothes you’re okay with getting messy and plan to remove all jewelry. Long hair will need to be pulled back and short nails are recommended.

Ceramics can be an unpredictable art. As the saying goes, "You can't love a piece until it comes out of the final firing". We put love and care into every piece that is made in our studio, but some things we can't control. We hope that you enjoy the experience of learning to create pottery and kiln gods willing, fall in love with your finished piece, but we cannot guarantee the functionality or final outcome of your piece. Promotional photos use pieces that have been created by professional potters—class results may vary based on skill level.
