COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Feeding Medina County held an emergency food distribution at Buckeye Woods Park on Nov. 4 and rescheduled a Lodi event to Nov. 6 as pantry need sharply increased. The organization will host a turkey drive from 5 to 7 on Nov. 19 + accepts pantry and cash donations at its warehouse from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Cleveland.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The MMHA board named Tom O’Connell as the new director and he will start on Dec. 1 as Skip Sipos retires at the end of the year. He was the executive director at Habitat for Humanity (a group known in Medina County) and will learn MMHA programs from Sipos during a one-month transition.  Cleveland.com
  • Late last month, Medina’s Streets and Sidewalks Committee held an informational meeting where City Engineer Patrick Patton explained that if sidewalks show a gap of 2 inches or have many cracks, property owners will be billed after a 90-day notice unless damage is caused by a street tree. The city will repair sidewalks on North Broadway Street, Hillview Way, Alexandria Lane and Bristol Lane later this year — details meant to help residents understand their responsibilities.  Cleveland.com
