- ➤ Medina’s George Sam was honored as the first Main Street Manager of the Year at Heritage Ohio’s annual conference in Canton. Sam, who has led Main Street Medina since 2018 and became executive director in 2022, said his team’s work—spanning preservation projects and community improvements—formed the basis for the award. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Medina revised its leaf pickup program because fewer leaves fell than expected—service director Nino Piccoli noted that two trucks are now working and more staff will be added so residents can help by raking leaves to the curb. The city hopes to collect most leaves before snow falls to protect its vacuum trucks. Cleveland.com
- ➤ Medina city officials warned motorists to be careful as deer breeding season peaks and the municipal deer control program permits select archery hunting. Officials said that since the program began on Sept 27, 23 deer were harvested and 122 deer (removed from streets to reduce collisions) have been collected, and the program will run until Feb 1.
