Cemetery preservation expert Paul LaRue visited Spring Grove Cemetery and told the Medina Friends of the Cemetery that the site is key for Civil War and Underground Railroad graves—its location between the Ohio River and Lake Erie shows its value—while about 75 members listened.
The group will hold an Achievement Walkabout on Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. to highlight the improvements made over 28 years.
Ohio representatives Daniels and Williams introduced a bill to toughen hate crime laws by imposing harsher punishments for political violence following the murders of Charlie Kirk and former lawmaker Hortman — the proposal would upgrade politically motivated murder to aggravated murder with a mandatory life sentence without parole and potential eligibility for the death penalty — and it now awaits committee assignment.

Step Up to Prevent Suicide Community Awareness Walk
Registration is open for our annual “Step Up to Prevent Suicide” Awareness Walk, happening on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Medina Public Square.
