EDUCATION NEWS

  • September is Library Card Sign Up Month and Medina residents are invited to join in a month-long celebration of shared learning and community growth—each library visit adds to the strength of our local bonds.   • Local Medina students participated in Baldwin Wallace University programs overseas in Zambia, Japan, Guatemala and Greece this summer to gain hands-on learning and cultural experience — the programs were led by faculty from various departments including speech-language pathology, psychology, computing and sports management. Some students also joined BW men’s golf while others earned spots on SNHU’s President’s and Dean’s Lists.  Cleveland.com

  • A Medina parent, Courtney Miller, said legislators need to boost online safety—Senate Bill 167 would make the App Store the single location for age verification so parents submit their documents only once—and a poll shows 75 percent of parents favor the measure alongside 80 percent backing parental approval for teen downloads.  Cleveland.com
  • Ohio state parks were named best in the nation when Gov. Mike DeWine and ODNR Director Mary Mertz announced on Wednesday that the park system received the 2025 National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management—beating finalists Florida and Wyoming. The award recognizes the parks’ strong recreation programs and community engagement—helping visitors enjoy free entry to all 76 parks.  WKYC

  • Twelve homes were listed for sale in Medina County at prices of $1 million or more as of September 17, with eight properties priced at least $1.2 million. The listings show an average price of $1,457,850 and about 82 days on the market — with properties in Hinckley, Medina, Wadsworth, and Seville ranging from 3,300 to 9,024 square feet — offering buyers a variety of options.  Cleveland.com

    Registration is open for our annual “Step Up to Prevent Suicide” Awareness Walk, happening on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Medina Public Square. This free afternoon community walk coordinated by the Medina County Coalition for Suicide Prevention brings together individuals, families, and organizations across the county to raise awareness, honor those we’ve lost, and support those who are struggling.
