ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An 18-year-old man died when his Honda motorcycle hit a cow on the 8200 block of River Styx Road in Guilford Township early Thursday morning at 3:05 a.m.-officers said drugs and alcohol were not involved and the sheriff and coroner are investigating the crash.  WKYC

CULTURE NEWS

  • The eight local artists Women In Art opened their exhibit 'Beyond the Rainbow' at the Medina Library on the third floor, displaying colorful works in watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media. The exhibit will run until Sept. 28 and a reception is scheduled Sept. 7 from 2 to 4 p.m.—each artist shares a brief statement about her work.  Cleveland.com

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Jesse Smith, a conservation biologist at Native Landscapes and Gardens in Chagrin Falls, said local gardeners will choose native plants such as goldenrod and New England aster to add fall color and help local wildlife+ he added that selecting trees, shrubs, perennials and grasses will offer pollinators and birds more habitat. This fall palette will benefit gardens throughout Northeast Ohio.  Cleveland.com

  • Medina Superintendent Aaron Sable sent new rules for football games at Ken Dukes Stadium to address safety concerns after issues with unsupervised students and fights—these rules require elementary students to be with an adult and direct middle and high schoolers to stay in their designated zones while banning large bags.  Cleveland.com
