- ➤ Medina officials honored former Fire Lt. Bob Kiley, who died on Aug. 23 at age 84 after more than 30 years of service, during a recent council meeting. City leaders also discussed delays with the county recreation center renovation and reminded drivers to watch for students and buses — a note that comes as school has resumed. Cleveland.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mayor Dennis Hanwell said the city is being asked to provide $50,000 to the Next Step Up Shelter if other Medina County cities also contribute — the shelter opened earlier this year in a former MMHA office on Walter Road and offers 27 beds, pet-friendly accommodations, and local support services. Step Up to Prevent Suicide Community Awareness Walk
Registration is open for our annual “Step Up to Prevent Suicide” Awareness Walk, happening on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Medina Public Square. This free afternoon community walk coordinated by the Medina County Coalition for Suicide Prevention brings together individuals, families, and organizations across the county to raise awareness, honor those we’ve lost, and support those who are struggling.
