COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Mike Polk Jr. visited City Dogs as part of the Clear the Shelters campaign, which runs from Aug. 1 to 31 and helps pets find new homes. Over 30 shelters in Northeast Ohio are teaming up with WKYC — a campaign partner — to support pet adoptions.  WKYC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Medina’s Board of Education reviewed its food service program data with director of business affairs Ryan O’Cull noting the program employs 47 staff and earned $1.39 million in food sales while spending $1.5 million on wages and benefits — all from self-supporting operations. Board members, including superintendent Aaron Sable, commended the program as efficient and independent from the general fund.  Cleveland.com
  • Three students from Baldwin Wallace University studied abroad—Ella Clapper went to Edge Hill University in England, Mary Gaughan to Umea University in Sweden, and Lukas Purgar to University College Dublin—through an Independent Study program during the 2024-25 academic year. The university’s tennis team welcomed six new athletes, including Brunswick natives Sam Dalessandro and Andrej Devic, while UA student Jordan Dye of Brunswick began a fall co-op program with Stanley Black and Decker.  Cleveland.com
