ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency issued an air quality advisory for Greater Cleveland and Akron—Medina is included—to warn of rising ground-level ozone pollution from lingering Canadian wildfire smoke. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Medina council voted unanimously to raise the day pass rate at the community rec center from $8 to $10. Parks and Recreation Director Jansen Wehrley said the increase is designed to cover higher staffing and pool chemical costs and may generate an additional $100,000 in revenue—driven by renovations and greater use during the busy season.  Cleveland.com
  • Medina city engineers have been replacing an 85-year-old waterline on West Liberty Street from Court to Elmwood and along West Washington—a project delayed by leaks that extended the work beyond its planned four-week schedule, with City Engineer Patrick Patton expecting it to finish by the end of next week and temporary asphalt paving in place until permanent resurfacing starts in late August or early September.  Cleveland.com
