- ➤ At the Western Reserve Masonic Community, 10 local women meet each Tuesday to knit and crochet items for Warm Up Medina County—so far they have made 37 afghans and 21 scarves for donation. The group will open to the public at 10 a.m. on Aug. 6 to help produce more goods and will sell items at a Maker’s Market on Oct. 11 to raise funds for yarn supplies. Cleveland.com
- ➤ Yesterday at the Medina County Fair, visitors like Brittany and Pamela Buescher enjoyed the fun rides, tasty food, and lively sights and sounds—fair director Lori Berger said the cool weather drew bigger crowds and new attractions like the Sea Lion Show and exotic petting zoo. - ➤ St. Emilian Byzantine Catholic Church celebrated its 50th anniversary this year after starting in January 1975 when families first gathered at Huntington Bank and later purchased a ten-acre site at 1231 Substation Road – now the church plans several events including a picnic on Aug. 10, a golf outing on Aug. 16, and a 50th dedication celebration on Oct. 5.
