- ➤ The Medina County Veterans Memorial Fund will display over 100 American and Service Flags at Tri-C University Brunswick campus from Aug. 15—17 to honor local veterans. The three-day event will feature a flag parade, musical entertainment, an ice-cream social, and a Vietnam War Veterans prayer breakfast along with a tribute to the 33 Medina residents who died in the Vietnam War. - ➤ Local building and business owners are using state grant funds to improve facades in downtown Medina. Main Street Medina approved 14 projects + 2 pending proposals and will reimburse owners up to 5,000 dollars per project if work is completed by June 2026. Cleveland.com
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ State troopers in Medina County investigated an Interstate 71 South crash on July 28 near milepost 208 in Westfield Township—where a Missouri family's 2020 Nissan Armada hydroplaned on wet conditions and struck a parked commercial truck—that left 42-year-old Ryan Broyles Sr. dead while his wife and children were injured and the truck driver remained unharmed. - ➤ Ohio's Sales Tax Holiday runs from Aug 1 to Aug 14 and lets shoppers buy nearly all items priced at $500 or less without state sales tax both in-store and online—stores must follow the law while vehicles, watercraft, and alcoholic beverages remain taxed. WKYC
