Patrick Spoerndle will play 100 holes on July 28 at Fox Meadow Country Club to raise funds for Hospice of Medina County — he has raised over $500,000 in 17 years and hopes to reach $600,000 this time.

The Medina County District Library reported record participation in its summer reading program as of July 19 with 7,779 kids, surpassing the record of 7,679 set in 2019.

Children from birth through fifth grade can check out a game board at a library location to track their reading days and earn a prize after 15 days plus a free book after 30 days, and the program runs through Aug. 23.

NOACA has issued an air quality advisory for Greater Cleveland and Akron that begins at midnight today and affects counties such as Medina — rising heat in the low 90s may cause ground-level ozone.

The warning seeks to protect children, older adults, and those with breathing issues — residents are advised to check air quality and limit outdoor activity if needed.

Medina County is asking residents to fill out an online survey to share ideas for the fairgrounds as the Fairgrounds Facilities Strategic Plan moves forward—officials plan to finalize the plan by the end of the year.

People at the fair can use the survey until Aug. 3 with help available from county staff.
