Friends of the Cemetery is hosting a Spirit of 76 celebration at Old Town Graveyard July 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with costumed interpreters (including Captain Harmon Munson), craft demos, kids' activities and a wreath-laying ceremony to honor Revolutionary War soldiers.

On June 28, Medina Square will host the free Strawberry Arts Fest with over 80 art vendors, live music, exotic animal demonstrations and children’s interactive art stations, plus performances by Ohio Crossroads at 4 p.m. and Take Me Back at 6 p.m.

After voters rejected a 1.5% earned income tax levy on May 5, Wadsworth City Schools saw its outlook drop from stable to negative as S&P Global Ratings forecast a $3.5 million deficit in fiscal 2026 and rising deficits in fiscal 2027; district officials began cost-saving measures on June 2.

Medina received a $920,000 grant from the Ohio Rail Development Commission to address rail issues following recent railroad breaks.

The city and local partners will each match part of the $230,000 contract by paying $57,500 over the next two years as rate increases fund rail maintenance.
