ECONOMY NEWS

  • Medina approved the sale of the city-owned property at 410 E. Smith Road to Bradley Hoisington of Sweets and Geeks for $355,000 on May 26. The adjacent lot to the flagship store will support future business expansion.  Cleveland.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ohio-SEE will expand statewide next school year after receiving an additional $25 million annually from federal funds. The program, currently piloted in 15 counties, uses mobile vans to offer free eye exams and glasses to students so they can see the chalkboard clearly.  WKYC
  • Main Street Medina awarded $2,000 scholarships to four graduating seniors from Medina and Brunswick High Schools — recognizing their leadership, volunteerism, and community efforts. The program now seeks sponsors for next year's award cycle.  Cleveland.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City Engineer Patrick Patton said Medina's finance committee approved a request for council action to accept a bid of just over $1.9 million from Kokosing Construction for resurfacing US 42 from 400 feet north of Homestead Street to Lafayette Road — work is slated to finish by August 2027.  Cleveland.com
  • County commissioners approved the Medina County Fair's request to apply for an F-class temporary permit to serve beer at the event, which runs Aug. 3-9 on fairgrounds covering 92 acres, but state liquor authorities must issue the permit before sales begin.  Cleveland.com
