Green Mayor Rocco Yeargin said during a press conference that 13-year-old Matthew Schultz died following a Memorial Day parade accident — he called the loss unthinkable.

At the May board meeting, Medina City Schools honored retiring staff members, with Superintendent Aaron Sable remarking that the retirees looked younger each year (retirees included staff from Root Middle, Canavan, Northrop, Fenn and Medina High) and Human Resources Director Jim Shields recognizing longtime administrator Karen McGinty for 27 years of service.

A popular new club at Claggett Middle School teaches students about endangered chestnut trees while building skills from the district's Portrait of a Bee initiative.
