Alan Briggs, an 81-year-old Navy veteran from Medina County, is having his master bathroom remodeled for free in his York Township home through Purple Heart Homes (with a new walk-in shower, updated plumbing, lighting, flooring, and grab bars).
The $20,000 to $40,000 project is completed by local contractors partnering with sponsors (including Bennett Builders and Remodeling and local plumbing companies) to make the home safer and easier to use.

Culver's officially opened its doors in Brunswick on May 20 with a ribbon cutting attended by local officials and community members—owner Michael Green and his partners led the event.
The restaurant at 3725 Center Road offers butter burgers, frozen custard and other menu items, and it is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
🎓 Education
Medina school officials and high school students contacted state legislators as Ohio officials prepare to finalize the biennial budget, warning that proposed funding changes may affect local education programs.
Superintendent Aaron Sable thanked community members who attended a town hall event and submitted testimony in support of Medina schools + county superintendents working together to advocate for students.
Local Medina students earned top academic honors this spring.
At Baldwin Wallace University—where five local graduates were named to a special honor society—and Ohio Wesleyan University, students received awards and honors, while others earned dean’s list spots and scholarships at Belmont, Olivet Nazarene, the University of Texas, Upper Iowa and Hiram College, showing strong work and promise in our community.
