  • Lottery officials say no one won the $277 million Mega Millions jackpot on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, though thousands of winners claimed smaller prizes statewide & the jackpot now climbs to $296 million with a $128.6 million cash option for today's draw at 11 p.m.  WKYC
  • Medina County Parks offer free events in June including a photography exhibit at Oenslager Nature Center from June 6 to 27, stargazing at Letha House Lodge on June 6, and a concert at Buffalo Creek Retreat on June 7 — additional programs feature plant sales, nature quests and art sessions.  Cleveland.com
  • Medina County will host Memorial Day parades and ceremonies this weekend to honor local veterans and mark America 250. Events will run from 9 a.m. in various townships — including Brunswick, Chatham, and Medina — with processions leading to cemetery tributes.  Cleveland.com
  • Three Northeast Ohio moms launched nonprofit Just Encourage Joy to provide care kits, snack bins & grief baskets to hospital families at local children's hospitals. The group plans to expand support into NICUs, building on personal loss to bring comfort to caregivers.  WKYC
  • The Medina Recreation Center pool is installing a new UV filtration system to lower chlorine use, cut costs, and improve swimmer comfort. The city and school district will share costs 50+50 after the board approved the plan on May 19, a move expected to save nearly $4,000 annually.  Cleveland.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • Medina County District Library’s Family History & Learning Center has installed its new CopiBook Open System scanner after delays with funding and a federal shutdown. The $100,000 scanner (18x24 scanning bed) will digitize Sanborn maps, ledgers and school records for the library’s heritage project.  Cleveland.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local students participated in BW’s 132nd White Rose Ceremony during Commencement weekend, with honorees including Brenna Holliday and other inductees from Medina and Brunswick recognized for their contributions. In addition, several students earned spots on Honors, Dean’s, and President’s Lists at local colleges.  Cleveland.com
  • Brunswick City School District announced the final round of its “B” For Excellence Award winners for the 2025-2026 school year, selecting 13 staff members from 51 nominations for their outstanding commitment & service. The awards honor educators and support staff for their dedication to students.  Cleveland.com
