Cups Café in Medina offers free meals and a welcoming space to between 30 and 50 teens and between 50 and 60 adults each day and has served over 21,000 meals since it opened in 2007.
The café, now run by director Cindy Maxwell since July 2022, will begin summer hours on June 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays plus shorter Saturday hours.
The Medina County Soil and Water Conservation District and Park District are hosting free invasive species workshops to show neighbors how to remove plants like Callery pears and honeysuckle on June 7, June 17, and July 22 +at local nature centers and libraries+.
They will also hold a volunteer removal day on Friday, June 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. +at a stream area in Lafayette Township with space for 15 helpers+ to protect local plants and wildlife.
Medina Community Recreation Center announced it received a $4,000 grant from the USA Water Polo Association to launch a youth water polo league.
Training classes for co-ed teams will run on Tuesday and Thursday from May 27 to June 28 — a splashball program for children ages 8 to 10 will run from May 27 to June 26 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.
