- ➤ A portion of the former Chippewa Lake Amusement Park reopens today as the Tumble Bug Trailhead at 5796 Longacre Lane at noon thanks to a ribbon-cutting ceremony by local officials. The first phase adds parking, restrooms, picnic shelter + a half-mile gravel trail, with more improvements planned. Cleveland.com
- ➤ Feeding Medina County is hosting a plant sale Saturday, May 30 from 8 a.m. to noon at its office on 650 W. Smith Road, offering woodland plants, hostas, ornamental grasses and perennials priced at $10 and $5 to benefit local food programs. Cleveland.com
- ➤ Out Support will host its Sixth Annual Pride on the Square on June 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the city’s square, where family-friendly activities include live music, chalk art, face painting, and treats and booths from over 30 community organizations (for a quieter Pride celebration). Cleveland.com

- ➤ Authorities from Wayne County and Whispering Acres Farm Animal Sanctuary responded to a call on May 5 to rescue six emaciated horses from a Wayne County property and provided emergency shelter and veterinary care in Medina as the animal cruelty investigation continues. Cleveland.com
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Southwest Baptist Church in Brunswick will launch HearthSide Christian Academy this fall at a campus on 329 N Carpenter Road. The new parochial school offers a hybrid model for pre-K to eighth grade with classroom sessions on Tuesday & Thursday and homeschooling on alternate days. Cleveland.com
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ After federal pandemic relief funds ended, county officials said that only 179 seniors in Medina will receive produce vouchers from Ohio’s Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program this season. The announcement comes ahead of Main Street Medina Farmers Market opening Saturday. Cleveland.com
