  • Schnitz Ale Brewery and Das Schnitzel Haus will open a new bakery and market in Brunswick at the former Rito’s Bakery location. Rito’s Bakery will close on May 31 after 60 years of business— the new space will honor Italian favorites and Eastern European specialties starting June 1.  Cleveland.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • On May 6, 45 women gathered at Medina United Methodist Church for a tea event to celebrate the anniversary of Medina Coterie + they enjoyed tea, cake, and punch while learning about the long history of women's literary societies in our county.  Cleveland.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Local police and emergency crews now use drones to quickly survey dangerous scenes and help guide search and rescue efforts—reducing response times and aiding in training across multiple agencies. Teams from NEO PSURT and others work together to use this tool for real-time thermal imaging and mapping hazards in emergency situations.  FOX 8

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Medina Half Marathon and 5K, presented by Summa Health and Acme Fresh Market, will take place on May 24 in Medina Square. The half marathon starts at 6:45 a.m. and the 5K at 7 a.m., with packet pickup held on May 23 at Second Sole from 1 to 6:30 p.m.+ organizers aim to raise $20,000 to $25,000 for local charities.  Cleveland.com
