- ➤ On May 6th, a local man named William bought a scratch-off ticket at an Acme Fresh Market in Norton and won $100,000 from the $2,000,000 Cashword game. After taxes he will take home about $72,000—Ohio Lottery officials said that six more $100,000 prizes remain in the game. FOX 8
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Medina council approved a final contract with the Ruhlin Company — costing $7.6 million — for renovating the 1969 Courthouse, bringing the total cost near $10.6 million. Once renovations are complete, the municipal court will move to the renovated building. Cleveland.com
- ➤ Medina council approved legislation to start soil testing at the former Sunoco site at 426 W. Liberty St using a $300,000 grant + $100,000 in matching funds, and Economic Development Director Kimberly Marshall said remediation is expected to take three to four months. The council also approved the purchase of a 2025 Ford F-600 cab and chassis for $69,000 + a Mark III utility single axle dump body for $70,000 to replace the current truck in the street department.
