- ➤ Eighth-grader Bennett Garcia leads Recycle & Ride Medina by restoring used bicycles for kids in need. The bike rodeo is scheduled for (May 6) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ray Mellert Park (North Huntington St). Cleveland.com

- ➤ 7 Brew Coffee opened its new drive-thru at 3695 Center Road in Brunswick on April 13 and announced a $2,000 donation to Buckeye’s Missions and Sanctuary (a local pet rescue) to create a welcoming community hub. Cleveland.com
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Local college students earned academic and athletic honors in fall 2025. Several Grove City College students made the Dean's List with distinction and many BW students were inducted into the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society, including standout diver Makenna Mincey who advanced to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Cleveland.com
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ PBS Western Reserve will host a free event titled Wetland Wonders on May 2 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Oenslager Nature Center, where community members can watch a screening on local wetlands adapting to climate change and join a guided tour led by Medina County Park District staff. - ➤ Work on the former Sunoco site at 426 W. Liberty St. is expected to finish this month, and the property will be transferred to the city soon. Economic Development Director Kimberly Marshall said officials will meet with consultants later this week to review remaining work and finalize closing the grant for the site. Cleveland.com
- ➤ Medina's electric aggregation customers will face a rate increase to 9.65 cents per kilowatt hour starting in June, locked through 2028 as Service Director Nino Piccoli said rising grid demand contributed, & the city's yard waste program has begun for spring cleaning curbside. Cleveland.com
- ➤ Medina County Park District is accepting sealed bids on six parcel groups along Big Injun Trail near Chippewa Lake in Lafayette Township. Bids (min. $500–$1,500) are due 4 p.m. May 4 at 6364 Deerview Lane as officials plan an ADA-accessible trail and museum at the historic former amusement park site. Cleveland.com
