COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Medina Recreation Center will host America 250 Touch a Truck on April 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in its parking lot, and the free event will offer families a chance to explore vehicles and enjoy sensory hour (9 to 10 a.m.) with quieter music.  Cleveland.com
  • Last month, community members, school officials and family honored longtime band director Gary Ciulla by naming the main stage at the Medina High School Performing Arts Center after him — a tribute that reflects his legacy in music education.  Cleveland.com
  • Flooding prompted the district to shift the sandhill crane walk to the Chippewa Inlet North Trail as parts of the south trail flooded and Chippewa Lake (closed) triggered the change, with the program taking place from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday so participants could watch the cranes returning.  Cleveland.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Wadsworth City Schools will hold two sessions next week to discuss a proposed 1.5% income tax levy. Superintendent Andy Hill and Treasurer Doug Beeman will answer resident questions at a Monday 6 p.m. meeting at Bayberry Estates Clubhouse + an April 9 meeting at Weatherstone Clubhouse.  Cleveland.com

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new Ohio law under Avery’s Law requires dog owners to improve training, equipment and home safety measures to prevent bites (experts say this can lower risks). Locals are advised to follow these guidelines to protect their families and pets.  WKYC

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Bottles, Barrels & Brews will add five craft distilleries to its lineup, offering spirit samples along with craft beers at the beer fest on May 9 at the Medina County Fairgrounds Community Center from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale for guests 21 and older.  Cleveland.com
