EDUCATION NEWS

  • Chef Tony Stanislo of the Medina County Career Center hosted his 25th From the Heart Scholarship Dinner at the Center Café, where 380 guests were served and $320,000 raised + Mayor Jim Shields honored him during the March 9 council meeting, praising his work to make Medina proud.  Cleveland.com
  • Medina County students earned degrees and athletic honors at local universities, including a Baldwin Wallace wrestler who qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships March 13-14, and Ohio Wesleyan will stage Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet March 26 and Into the Woods April 10-18 at its Chappelear Drama Center.  Cleveland.com

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • This morning, residents across Northeast Ohio recorded a loud meteor boom that shook homes, and the National Weather Service said the sound was likely caused by a meteor. Videos of the event have been submitted for review.  WKYC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Medina Mayor Jim Shields recognized athletic trainers Luis DeJesus and Marianne Chiara at City Hall on March 9 to honor National Athletic Training Month. He noted their work handling concussion protocols, rehab services, and emergency care for student athletes.  Cleveland.com
