- ➤ FirstEnergy is working to restore power for nearly 70,000 customers after weekend storms knocked down 17 power poles on one Brunswick street—teams are making repairs to bring back service as soon as possible. WKYC
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Three owners plan to open Hemingway's Underground in a 19th century building at 236 S. Court St. near the square in Medina this year—offering a unique craft cocktail experience—and they expect the bar to open late spring to early summer. Cleveland.com
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Medina Council approved a donation of old computers from City Hall and obsolete cameras from the rec center to Medina City Schools so the equipment can be used sooner—Mayor Dennis Hanwell said the upgrades made the computers too old for the new system. City Engineer Patrick Patton also asked residents to share comments by March 31 on the planned Prospect Street bridge replacement scheduled for 2026 and a South Huntington Street project slated for 2027. - ➤ Medina Council is weighing the official name for the renovated 1969 courthouse that will house Medina Municipal Court — council members say the sign should clearly include Municipal Court to avoid confusion. Cleveland.com
- ➤ The Medina Council approved adding a parcel on Wooster Pike Road to the Joint Economic Development District with Montville Township so that developers can start work immediately under an emergency clause. The project, part of the South Court Village development by Albrecht Inc., will build a quick service restaurant with a $3 million investment and create about 30 jobs—payroll is estimated at over $560,000. - ➤ Medina officials expect to soon choose a consultant to test soil at the former Sunoco site at 426 W. Liberty St — they reviewed three proposals for the Brownfield Remediation Assessment grant, and work will start before the grant deadline this summer. The city parks department has also announced seasonal jobs for 35 to 40 hours a week through the spring and summer. Cleveland.com
