ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Buckeye Local Schools Superintendent Jeff Stanton confirmed that a school bus struck several deer Monday morning in Litchfield Township, and students were safely moved to another bus with no injuries.  News 5 Cleveland

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Medina Board of Education approved a grade reconfiguration that moves fifth and sixth graders to Root and seventh and eighth graders to Claggett beginning with the 2027-28 school year. The change, made on Feb. 25 to address declining enrollment and funding pressures, is expected to save $1.5 million annually.  Cleveland.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A single squirrel chewed through a county fiber line on Feb. 20, cutting off phone and Internet service at key government offices in Medina — repairs replaced about 500 feet of cable by 6 p.m. Sunday, and officials now plan upgrades to avoid future outages.  Cleveland.com
  • Medina officials announced plans to raise summer rates for Memorial Pool to balance expenses. Daily rates will increase from $8 to $10 & season passes will cost more, though a 50% discount remains for children on the school lunch program.  Cleveland.com
