About this event

Instructor: Shaun C. + Michael M. from The Grind | For ages 12+

We're partnering with The Grind to bring you a one-of-a-kind date night experience. This project is intended for all makers, from Starters to Refiners, who are looking for something fun to do with their special someone. Join us in the studio Friday evening where you'll work together to build two mugs and a dripper to make a couple's perfect cup of pour over coffee. All of the needed clay, tools, and materials will be provided and you'll be guided through the steps needed to turn your slab of clay into a gorgeous pour over set by our instructor, Shaun. Then, Michael from The Grind will teach you how to prepare a perfect cup of pour over coffee, so that once yours has been fired, you'll be ready to brew!

This workshop is designed as an experience—admission is priced per couple, you'll create one pour over set together. Couples will receive one free bag of Roosevelt coffee grounds to use with their finished handbuilt set!

This is a Project-based Workshop . This workshop will cover the techniques required for makers to build a specific project. Due to the nature of this type of class, we may not cover every skill required to handbuild your own projects in the future. Interested in learning more pottery skills? We recommend taking one of our skill-based workshops or courses. Note: You will not glaze your piece during this workshop, but you will be able to chose a color from a group of preselected glazes.

Starter makers are just beginning their journey. Whether wheel throwing or handbuilding—they’re just trying it out for the first time and just introducing ceramics into their wheelhouse. Learn more about the Maker's Journey here .

No partial refunds or make-up instruction will be provided if class is missed. Please make sure you are available before registering. Please wear clothes you’re okay with getting messy and plan to remove all jewelry. Long hair will need to be pulled back and short nails are recommended.

Ceramics can be an unpredictable art. As the saying goes, "You can't love a piece until it comes out of the final firing". We put love and care into every piece that is made in our studio, but some things we can't control. We hope that you enjoy the experience of learning to create pottery and kiln gods willing, fall in love with your finished piece, but we cannot guarantee the functionality or final outcome of your piece. Promotional photos use pieces that have been created by professional potters—class results may vary based on skill level.
