About this event

Members of the Fall faculty book club—hosted by the Academic Technology Instructional in partnership with the Lemle Teaching Center—will participate in a panel discussion exploring alternative grading models, such as Standards-Based and Specifications Grading. Drawing on their reading of Grading for Growth: A Guide to Alternative Grading Practices That Promote Authentic Learning and Student Engagement by David Clark and Robert Talbert, panelists will reflect on key insights and share practical takeaways.

The panel, which follows up on a conversation from last semester, will discuss a range of topics on alternative grading, including the benefits for instructors and students, pedagogical and practical challenges, managing instructor workload, structuring reassessment policies, and navigating student expectations.

Lunch will be served. RSVP to sgutierr@oberlin.edu
